Unbeatable Hen Parties Planning Tips and Tricks

Have you’ve ever been lucky enough to have been the organizer of a hen party?  If so, you’ll probably know that it’s a straightforward task. The only complex aspect of party organization is to get a group of women to agree on exactly what to do and where to go.  Not forgetting the issues of who to invite or rather who not, as just one incorrect call can result in more than one broken friendship.  That’s why we have got the super inside scoop on unbeatable tips on how to organize stress-free hen parties.

Attendants- Rule of thumb-always ask the hen exactly who she wants at her party, unless it’s a surprise party of course, in which case you’ll be required to ask her fiancée. If practically possible ask the hen to make a list of guests divided into different categories such as BBF (it’s essential to check the schedules of these individuals as the party will be incomplete without them), acquaintances (these individuals can be invited casually without any need for you to panic if they are unable to come), in-laws (you will unfortunate be require to invite the in-laws but the hen will certainly prefer it if they do not come) and the unwelcome list (if any unwelcome guests are invited or show up you are in deep trouble as both a friend and bridesmaid!)

Party location- After you have picked a location to throw the party, ask the couple what the wedding budget makes allowances for. Travel and accommodation usually costs an arm and a leg, which in turn means weekend getaways, should only be considered if it’s within budget.

Easy access to and from the party spot is essential for all attendants, but should however be somewhere that unique or special. The spot should ideally be a place to relax and let your hair down, but should not be jam-packed with other cackling hens. Seaside camping is a wonderful option if you need to throw this event on a tight budget but still want to get away from everyone and everything.

Activities- Avoid the dumb idea that you merely need to book accommodation and the rest will sort itself out upon arrival. Have a plan of action ready which includes where you are going to eat or enjoy drinks and make the necessary reservations, well in advance. Last minute decision making with a crowd of hungry and exhausted women will just cause chaos, and chances are very good that the hen will left disappointed. The group also needs to be aware of the hen party itinerary at all times, as you want to avoid the loss of guests along the way.

While checking party location and activities, take into account the type of person the hen is. What does she enjoy? Is a party animal or more a wallflower? Would she appreciate a day at a spa more than a stripper? Does she enjoy the outdoors or is indoor partying more her cup of tea?
Preparation- Unless the entire group knows each other and have been friends for more than a couple of days, it will certainly be difficult  to know how precisely the dynamics of a hen party will pan out. As organizer you’ll need to check that the party goes off with a bang, thus preparation will be required in the form of having games and activities ready in case things turn sour or boring.

Popular activities include compiling a list of hen tasks, for example getting a single guy’s number and having some shape or form of punishment ready in case of failure or you can ask her fiancée a few questions before the party and then see how well they know each other.  Every correct answer will allow her to choose someone to down a drink, each incorrect answer she will be required to drink one herself.

Essential party rules- Always remember the hen is the focus of the event. She should be the centre of attention all the time and shouldn’t be left on her own for a second. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. There’s no need whatsoever for the hen’s new mother-in-law to know about the hen’s encounters with a male stripper at the party.  Themes are essential if it’s as simple as strutting badges or a t-shirt. This will also help group bonding and will make it more than just a girl’s night out.  Stick together at all times, with the exception of anyone who wants or needs to go back to the hotel. Disappearing with a guy you’ve met, or going to a different club is a big no-no.
