Who doesn’t love to soak in a tub full of fizzy, scented water? Bath bombs are luxurious and soothing, but they can get very expensive, especially if you opt for the fancy scented ones from places like Lush. We have a simple, inexpensive alternative for youmake your own! These bath fizzies are super easy to make and cost way less than the ones you buy in stores, so have a go at making your own easy DIY bath bombs.

Materials:

2 cups baking soda
1 cup citric acid (available online or from some food shops)
1 cup Epsom salt
Spray bottle filled with water
2 tablespoons olive oil
Essential oils for scent (be sure to use ones that are safe for skin)
Bath Bomb Mold

Optional Extras:

Food colouring
Glitter
Dried flowers or herbs

making bath bombs

Mix all dry ingredients in a large glass bowl, whisking away any lumps.

Combine the oils in a separate container, mixing well. Pour them into the dry ingredients slowly, mixing as you pour. Add your food colouring now, if you are using it. Be careful not to add too much, or it could stain your skin and bath tub.

Use the spray bottle to add just a tiny bit of water, and continue mixing. You can add more water as needed, until you have a mix that holds its shape when you squeeze it. It should have the consistency of wet sand. If it’s too crumbly, add more water. If it’s too wet, add a bit more baking soda.

Tightly pack your mixture into your molds. Silicone molds work best, as they make it easier to remove the bombs once they are dry. Plastic eggs or bath fizzy molds are good too, and can be found in most craft stores.

Try these other fun molds for gorgeous bath bombs:

Heart shaped mold
Button shaped mold
Flower mold
Ball shaped mold

Or, just for fun, try one of these:

Brain mold
Scream mold

Once your molds are filled, place them out of harm’s way and let them dry for 24-48 hours.

When the bath bombs are ready, ease them out of the mold and place on a piece of tissue paper to let them dry further, if necessary.

Store your luscious bath bombs in an airtight glass container until you’re ready to use them, or give them away as gifts. They are sure to be appreciated!
