How To Plan A Cocktail Party

A cocktail party can be a great way for you to spend some quality time with your close friends and colleagues. Even if your guests are not well acquainted with one another a cocktail party is the best way for them to get to know each other. This is because cocktail parties are usually more informal than dinner parties and make people become less guarded and socialize more easily. Another plus point about cocktail parties is that they usually last only for a few hours like for example two to three hours. This means you don’t have to spend too much time entertaining your guests.

Let's start with the guest list. Narrowing down on a guest list is very important to make the party a success and you need to invite people who you think will get along. It's always best to invite a diverse group of people so that you can all get together and have interesting conversation over drinks and appetizers.

You will need to order the appropriate amount of supplies while keeping the guest list in consideration. A good tip for you would be that each guest would have 2 drinks at least every hour so you can buy drinks while keeping this figure in your head. It's always best to buy a few extra bottles of drinks just to be on the safe side as it would be incredibly embarrassing if you ran out of drinks to serve in the middle of the cocktail party.

Having the appropriate glassware is quite important such as champagne glasses, martini glasses and goblets. If you don’t have any proper glassware for the cocktail party and don’t want to spend excessively on new ones then as an alternative you could use premium plastic champagne flutes, cocktail glasses and goblets. These plastic glasses have a lot of benefits. Firstly they look very beautiful and not at all like plastic and secondly you do not have to worry about cleaning then up after they have been used. You can just simply throw them out after one use. They are also quite cheaper than real glass champagne flutes and cocktail glasses.

Once you have the whole glassware issue solved you can now move on other issues like decorating the venue. The venue for most cocktail parties is the host's house so it would be best for you to hold yours there as well if you have enough space in your living room that is. Since your aren't celebrating a special occasion there is no need for you to go all out and decorate the venue from top to bottom. A few fairy lights or string lights here and there will be enough for such an occasion. There are many options to choose from you should keep your venue in mind when selecting the appropriate type of lights for decorating the venue.

For appetizers you could use a chocolate fountain. You could set up a mini chocolate fountain in either the middle of the venue or on the side. You could actually make a small food section on one side of the room where you could have the chocolate fountain with small pieces of strawberries, marshmallows etc which all your guests can dips in the chocolate using small toothpicks. You can even choose what kind of chocolate you put in your chocolate fountain. The most common choice is milk chocolate but if you want to go for something different you can even use white chocolate.

Now we can focus on the drinks you can serve at the party. There are so many cocktail mixtures to choose from but you should probably focus on just a few as you won't be able to make all of them. Besides cocktails you can also serve other drinks like champagne, red wine, brandy etc. If you decide to serve champagne then you could use an amazing product called the champagne flowers. These are syrup soaked blooms which you simply place in the champagne flute also pouring in some syrup for flavor. When you pour in the champagne the bubbles in the champagne will gradually open up the flower in to a crown shape. This will look extremely beautiful in the champagne flute. Once you finish your drink you can even eat these flowers.

With all the above mentioned ideas you can plan a great cocktail party which can prove to be fun for both you and your guests. Try to pre-order all your necessary supplies at least a few weeks before the actual event so that you don’t have to deal with some last minute hassles. Try to have fun while preparing the event and don’t get too lost in it as you also have to entertain your guests.
