Sand Castle Cake
Ingredients
• Cake mix (Four boxes)
• Vegetable oil
• Eggs
• Graham Crackers
• Coconut
• Brown or white sugar
• Four sugar cones
• Five coconut marshmallows
• Cream cheese butter cream frosting (One big batch)
• Candy melts
• Starfish candy mold and seashell candy mold
• Square cake pan (Nine inch)
• Round cake pans (2-8 inch)
• Round cake pans (1-6 inch)
• Paper flags
• Metal cocktail shaker
• Wooden skewers
• Toothpicks
Directions for Preparation:
1. First we will prepare chocolate starfish and seashells. Take the candy melts and melt them in a microwave like instructed in their paper bag. Now take a decorating bag and put this melted chocolate in it. Cut a small hole at its tip and insert a pipe. Put it in a refrigerator for next 15 to 20 minutes. Once hard, pop it out from the mold.
2. In a microwave toast the coconut at 3500 over a baking sheet for 10 to 12 minutes. Once the coconut is golden brown in color, remove it from the oven.
3. To prepare sand mixture, put 2 to 3 packets of Graham Crackers, cups of white and brown sugar, toasted coconut in a 12 cup food processor. Now process them all together till the whole mixture starts looking like sand.
4. Prepare the strawberry cake and coconut cake separately like instructed in their box.
5. Once the cakes are ready, allow them to cool down. You can even put them in a refrigerator to make them firm.
6. Now take sugar cones & marshmallows and prepare battlements and turrets out of them. Take the cone and cut off its tip to insert the flags. Now put some frosting over the cone and then cover it with sand mixture. Follow the same procedure with marshmallows. Put them in refrigerator.
7. Take a cardboard and cut it into a rounded wavy rectangle to form a base for the cake.
8. It’s time to prepare the towers. Take the cocktail shaker cakes and cut their base in such a way that can stand without support. Now use sand mixture on them in the very same way we did before with the marshmallows and sugar cones.
9. Place the first layer of cake over the cardboard base and apply a thick frosting over it. Now place second layer of cake over the first one and put some frosting over it too, and finally place the third layer of cake. Frost the sides and top of the cake and cover it with sand mixture.
10. It’s time to tower the 4 corners. With the help of cocktail shaker, cut each corner of the cake and apply the frosting and then press the tower at that place.
11. You can now attach the battlements over the cake’s top with the help of a toothpick.
12. Give your cake a finishing touch by decorating it with starfish and seashells. Your sand cake castle is ready now!
