Remember growing up as a kid when you'd go to School or the local Town Fetes and you'd have those ever-so-sweet treats - the Candy Apple?? AKA as the Toffee Apple! Well I have a new spin on it - a Candy Apple coated in hard caramel instead of toffee - can you think of anything more delightful??? Andddd - I have another option for those Chocolate lovers out there: CHOCOLATE Candy Apples.... WITH NUTS OR SPRINKLES!!!  And they are all just so easy to make.  I'll show you how!!

INGREDIENTS:
SIX Apples (go for the more "tart" flavoured apples such as Jonathons to counteract all that sugary sweetness we'll be using ;) )
ONE packet (or 400gm) of caramel lollies
TWO Tab/Sp water (or milk if you prefer)
Pinch of salt - again, to counteract the sweetness
Craft sticks to hold your Apples with

METHOD:

1. De-stem each apple and push a craft stick into the top of each apple. Then put your apples into the fridge - if not the freezer - as you want the apples to be as COLD AS POSSIBLE when it comes time for dipping.
2. Prepare by spraying a baking sheet with non-stick Spray.
3. In a microwave-safe bowl (as deep as possible for dipping afterwards) add together your caramels, salt & water or milk, then micrawave for two minutes - stirring halfway through just once. Afterwards, allow the miixture to cool only very briefly as you don't want it to set!
4. One at a time, remove an apple from the freezer, dunk it completely in the caramel mixture - twisting & turning if necessary until fully coated - then place on your already prepared baking sheet. Continue with each apple.
5. When all done, put your now caramel-coated apples in the fridge to set.
6. Now - for those who want to try the CHOCOLATE VERSION( its basically the same): Melt your chocolate in a saucepan,  take your apples out of the freezer one at a time and either completely dunk and coat them OR you can just drizzle the chocolate in a decorative fashion over the apple. To finish: Roll the chocolate-coated apple in  nuts and/or rainbow sprinkles then put them on your baking sheet to set, and away into the fridge.
7. For an AWESOME party gift for the kids, you can place each apple in a transparent treat bag then tie off with a pretty ribbon or coloured ties. Your friends will be VERY IMPRESSED when they find out you made them yourself!!!
