How to make a Chocolate, Peanut Butter and Banana Cake

What You Need

For the Banana Cake:

• 1  cup of Gold Medal all-purpose flour
• 3/4  cup of ripe bananas (mashed)
• 1/4  cup of sour cream
• 1/2  cup of softened butter or margarine
• 1  whole egg
• 1/2  teaspoon of vanilla extract
• 1/2  teaspoon of banana extract
• 1/2  cup of granulated sugar
• 1/2  teaspoon of baking soda
• 1/2  teaspoon of baking powder
• 1/4  teaspoon of salt


For the Chocolate Cake:

• 2  cups of Gold Medal all-purpose flour
• 3  envelopes (approximately 30 grammes each) of melted and unsweetened baking chocolate
• 2  whole eggs
• 3/4  cup of milk
• 1/2  cup of butter or margarine
• 1/2  cup of sour cream
• 1 1/4  cups of granulated sugar
• 1  teaspoon of vanilla 
• 1  teaspoon of baking soda
• 1/2  teaspoon of salt

For the Easy Peanut Butter Frosting

• 4  cups of sugar (powdered)
• 1  cup of softened butter or margarine
• 1/4 cup of milk
• 1  cup of creamy peanut butter
• 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla 
For the Garnish (optional)
• Chocolate chips
• Peanuts

How to Prepare:

• Heat the oven to around 180 degrees Celsius.

• Take round cake pans of 8 or 9 inches. Grease and flour these pans.

• In a moderate sized bowl, mix 1 ¼ cups of granulated sugar and ½ cup of butter using an electric mixer on moderate speed. Scrap the bowl every now and then and continue till the mixture is completely blended. 

• Now beat in the chocolate, 1 teaspoon of vanilla and ¾ cup of milk. Now beat in the remaining chocolate cake ingredients on a low speed and keep in mind to scrap the bowl continuously. Separate this batter into two pans.

• Bake these pans for 25 to 30 minutes or till a toothpick returns clean after being inserted into the center of the cakes. Let the cakes cool for 10 minutes and then cool completely for 1 hour.

• In a moderate sized bowl, mix ½ cup of granulated sugar and ½ cup of butter using an electric mixer on moderate speed. Scrap the bowl every now and then and continue till the mixture is completely blended. 

• Beat in an egg for 1 minute. Now beat in the bananas, ½ teaspoon of vanilla and ¼ cup of sour cream. Follow this by beating in the rest of the banana cake ingredients, scrapping the bowl continuously. Pour the mixture into the last remaining pan.

• Bake the pans for 25 to 30 minutes or till a toothpick returns clean after being inserted into the center of the cake. Let the cake cool for 10 minutes and then cool completely for 1 hour.

• In a moderate sized bowl, beat 1 cup butter using an electric mixer on moderate speed settings till the butter turns fluffy. Now beat in ½ cup of powdered sugar, peanut butter, ¼ cup of milk and ½ teaspoon of vanilla. Now slowly and step by step mix in 3 ½ cups of powdered sugar, mixing after each step until the mixture is smooth.

• Now place 1 layer of the chocolate cake at the bottom and spread over 1/3 cup of frosting over it, place the banana cake on top and spread an equal amount of frosting over the banana cake and lastly place another layer of chocolate cake on top. Now spread frosting on the sides and the top of the cake and put the garnish on top. 

• Now serve and enjoy!
