Mini Heart Cookies
What You Need
• 1 pouch of Betty Crocker® Sugar Cookie Mix
• 1 egg
• 1/3 cup of softened butter
• 2 containers of Betty Crocker® Creamy Vanilla Frosting
• 3 tablespoons of Gold Medal® all-purpose flour
• Orange, pink, purple, yellow and green food colours
How to Prepare
• Heat your oven to 190 degrees Celsius.
• In a moderate sized bowl, mix the butter, cookie mix, flour and egg until a soft dough forms. Now on a floured surface, roll the dough and let it be ¼ inch thick. Cut out approx. 100 heart shaped cookies using a 1-inch heart-shaped cookie cutter (reroll the dough as required). Place these cookies 1 inch apart from each other on an ungreased cookie sheet.
• Bake these cookies for 6-8 minutes or till the edges of the cookies are set. Let the cookies cool on the cookie sheet for 1 minute before placing them on a cooling rack and cooling them completely for 15 minutes.
• While the cookies cool down, divide the frosting among 6 small bowls with 1/3 cup of frosting in each bowl. Using the food colours, colour the frosting in each one of the bowls except 1 a separate colour.
• Take each bowl separately and heat in a microwave until the frosting is thin enough to pour.
• Now using 2 forks roll and dip each cookie in the melted frosting so that it covers the cookie completely. Let the excess frosting drip off and place each cookie on a cooling rack covered with wax paper. Let the cookies stand at room temperature for at least 3 hours or till the frosting is set.
